In todays lesson of theatre studies/drama we did a number of activities starting with our usual warm up of shake it out. Then came a classic game of Sah, in which the starting person passes the 'sah' around the room, you can reverse the way the 'sah' is going by saying 'sah sah' and you can pass the 'sah' across the circle by saying boom! (motioning to the person most likely oppersite them) and everyone else yells 'Aaaoooohhhh!'.Then came the game we now call 'Zesty Zoe' ( Thanks Sir).
Mr Patterson introduced us to a new game this moring called 'Give me back my son', Which goes something like this:
One person starts with asking the next person in the circle 'Give me back my son' then the next person has to exagerate the demand of the previous person, the aim is to build it up each time. the round ends when the person feels that the person next to them has reached the optimal climactic point of 'GIVVVEEEE ME BACKKKK MY SOOOOONNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!'. Then the next person starts with a new phrase for example 'My name if Jeff'.
We then got in the small groups and Mr Patterson gave us each parts of a script to interpret in our own way, the aim of the excercise was to practise unison and speaking harmonys. I was in a group with Mayer, Raine and Benji, I think we worked well together and performed a decent performance, perhaps it was a bit messy but keeping in mind we had 15 minutes to work on it. All the other groups performances were exquisite.
When we were sat down Mr Patterson gave us a brief talk about Greek theatre and the other components we will be studying in unit 1 theatre/drama. He mentioned that he needs more numbers for the year 12 performance in May, most of the class volunteered. If I get the opportunity I would like to help out with costumes and be in the chorus because it sounds like fun.
All and all a good class today :)))))))))))))))))
